Last Day

Today is the last day of my 11 day adventure. I will soon be posting about transportation, castles, shrines, a bridge, an island, well, you can read all about it in the days ahead.

This map of Japan will show you where I went.

I started in Shizuoka Prefecture (22), where I live and took the Shinkansen to Osaka (27). The Shinkansen, also known as the Bullet Train, is fast. I spent the day in Osaka before boarding the overnight Sunflower Ferry, which took me to Oita Prefecture (44) on the Island of Kyushu.

For the next ten days, I traveled by train with the Seishun Ju Hachi Ticket.  (This ticket costs 12,050 yen for 5 days. I bought two tickets, which are good for local and rapid trains).  I went from Oita (44) to Fukuoka (40) to Yamaguchi (35) to Hiroshima (34) to Shimane (32) to Okayama (33) to Hyogo (28) to Kyoto (26) to Osaka (27) to Wakayama (30). Today I will travel through Wakayama (30), Osaka (27), Shiga (25), Gifu (21), Aichi (23), and my own Shizuoka (22) to get back home.

It’s been a great trip and I can hardly wait to tell you all about it in the days ahead.
