Work In Progress Wednesday and Blackwork at Mr. Donut

Knot Garden progress

The Tale of Genji progress - the outlining/backstitching is slow, but I am making progress.

Waste not Want not - I had this 2 1/2 inch wide fabric left over from something else. After I stitch all of the fabric, I will cut the motifs apart and make the little pieces into fobs or ornaments.

On Friday afternoon, I met with Toki (who blogs at 私がめがねをかけるとき) and her husband (he and I used to work at the same place) at the local Mr. Donut.  We talked and drank coffee (no donuts consumed) while Toki and I worked on blackwork hearts and her husband was quality control, making sure there were no stray stitches. Really, it was good to see them both.

This is what our hearts looked like when we parted ways - - -

That's a smart way to use up a 'frame' of scrap fabric.
How nice to meet students and their family members whom you haven't seen in some time. Did you actually stitch the entire heart at Mr Donuts? How long were you there and how many cups of coffee did you drink?

The garden is looking great! And I am surprised at what a difference the back stitching makes. I didn't think it needed it when you first mentioned it but it really makes everything pop!

Both projects seem to be going well.
Thank you very much for giving me the blackwork lessons. I was very happy to meet you after a long time.

Oh, that garden is filling in nicely! And how lovely you got to meet Toki and her husband and spend some time together.
