Work in Progress Wednesday
Zipper Pouch progress
More Little Cross Stitch
Blackwork Heart progress - I used small bits of threads leftover from other projects for the background. Next I will outline the heart with black thread and press it.

Work In Progress Wednesday
Zipper Pouch Progress - I haven’t worked on this in a while, but picked it up this week, and was able to do several rows.
Blackwork Heart project - I pulled out leftover strands of thread and started putting in stitches. I’m happy to use up these small bits of thread that I can’t bear to throw away.
Little Fobs or Ornaments to use up this fabric. Check out Suzi’s blog if you are looking for little patterns.

Work In Progress Wednesday and Blackwork at Mr. Donut
Knot Garden progress
The Tale of Genji progress - the outlining/backstitching is slow, but I am making progress.
Waste not Want not - I had this 2 1/2 inch wide fabric left over from something else. After I stitch all of the fabric, I will cut the motifs apart and make the little pieces into fobs or ornaments.
On Friday afternoon, I met with Toki (who blogs at 私がめがねをかけるとき) and her husband (he and I used to work at the same place) at the local Mr. Donut. We talked and drank coffee (no donuts consumed) while Toki and I worked on blackwork hearts and her husband was quality control, making sure there were no stray stitches. Really, it was good to see them both.
This is what our hearts looked like when we parted ways - - -

Friday Finish - Blackwork Pillow
This piece was designed by Elizabeth Almond and is called Da Capo. The pattern can be found in the May 2013 Cross Stitch & Needlework publication. I finished the piece as a pillow, with a 30 cm form. The backing fabric mimics the border of the blackwork pattern.

Work In Progress Wednesday
Beady fob progress - I was able to get six sets (front and back) on the piece of fabric. From left to right, the DMC variegated colors are 106, 94, 108, 111, 115, and 105. I have started the second step stitches on the red, using DMC 104. This project is good for using up small pieces of fabric, good for a carry along project, and great for little gifts. I think I’ve made hundreds of them.

Friday Finish - Blackwork Rose Pillow
Front and Back with 30x30 cm cushion inside. The blackwork design is an EGA pattern designed by Carol Algie Higgenbotham. I finished the stitching in 2012! About time I finished the piece into this pillow.

Work in Progress Wednesday
New start - beady fobs. I had this piece of linen that I didn’t want to go to waste. It is perfect for making a few fobs. I think it is long enough to make about five fobs. These first two use DMC 106 and DMC 94.
New start - neckties hand stitched together with invisible thread.

Friday Finish - Blackwork Hoop and Fireworks Felt Pins
The hoop, fabric, and felt for the backing came from Daiso. Quick, inexpensive finish.
I made four little fun fireworks pins.

Work in Progress Wednesday
Beginning a project with neckties - I know it doesn’t look like much yet.
Blackwork progress - this project has become hard to put down. It is so fun to see it grow.

Stitch Group Sunday
Sunday we met to work on our blackwork pieces. The small stitches can be challenging and require a good deal of concentration. We each have had to unstitch from time to time.

Work in Progress Wednesday
I finished stitching this pulled thread sampler in 2013. Now I’m trying to finish it off as a wall hanging with kimono fabric. I will try to even out the bottom part.
Beaded Ball - finished
