The best colours develop after a sudden shock of cold air. We need just one or two nights of dropped temperatures for the leaves to turn colour. As the fluctuation in temperatures has been so extreme, I would not be surprised if the yellow and red colours came earlier than predicted.
Currently, the morning and evening are getting colder, but there are some place that record summer days during the day. When the temperature suddenly drops, the rate of autumn leaves accelerates.I love autumn, but this year’s autumn will be short and winter will be here in no time.😰

Not for us as we are heading into summer - we do not have a lot of trees that mark autumn in this area sadly.

Hello Pamela: Yes the trees are changing colors but with the temps above normal they are taking their time to change and fall.

Steffi is in Japan right now - she'll be sad she misses all the autumn foliage! December *is* pretty late to see red leaves, isn't it?
