Mikan are a popular citrus fruit in Japan and are grown in the area where I live. I bought this 2.5 kilogram bag of mikan at the local fruit stand for ¥400.
A great bargain, indeed! Do you have a freezer? One way of keeping mikan is to freeze them, as they are, in their peel. They can then be enjoyed much later. 1) Thaw one until you can cut it in half and eat while still cold - a type of sorbet? Very delicious. 2) Quarter, remove the peel and put into a blender with other fruit and yoghurt/ice cream for a smoothy. Just remember, mikan is a SWEET citrus fruit so don't eat too much at one time.

So not like and orange/mandarin or lemon?
Are they more sour like lemons or sweet like oranges? I'd love to try one!
This is quite a good deal.
You are good at shopping.
I didn't know about this fruit, only Yuzu - Japan seems to have a lot of mysterious citrus fruit!
