Friday Finish - Four Seasons Kogin

Toki, who blogs at 私がめがねをかけるときand I are both stitching this kogin piece. (She blogs in Japanese, but there is a translation button on the top left under the title, if you don’t read Japanese.) Check out her progress!

The patterns we used came from this book.

I finished mine this week. I used fabric from a Japanese shirt for the backing. The dowels on the top and bottom are udon rolling pins from an udon making class I took. (I never tried to make udon after the class, so this is a good use for them). I hung the hanging on the back of the door to take this picture, but I will have to find a better place for it.

You have created a perfect showcase of Japanese culture: A display of charming Kogin embroidery combined with udon noodle rolling pins and, for those who see the back, a nice Japanese print for clothing. I hope you will display this so many people can see it. How about in your room at work?

Congratulations on a wonderful completion.🙌
The seams are very nice and the colors are beautiful. I also love the idea of using a rolling pin.
It's the very best.😂
I plan to use Saran wrap core to complete it.
Autumn for my Koginsashi is almost over, and I'm heading towards winter.
I'm sorry we couldn't complete it together.

Oh, that turned out beautifully, and a perfect use of those unused rolling pins!
