79 Year Old Arrested For Driving Two Kilometers With Man On Hood
This is a crazy one. Police in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture have arrested a 79 year old woman on suspicion of attempted murder after she drove her car 2.2 kilometers with a 56 year old man clinging to the hood.
Police report that Chizuko Higashi has admitted to the allegation, but denied intent to kill. According to police, the incident started with Ms. Higashi opening her car door and hitting the car next to hers. When the owner of that car called out to her and stood in front of her car, and she drove forward!
The man clung to the hood and called police to report the incident. He remained on the line with police for seven minutes. The man fell off after Ms. Higashi stopped at a traffic signal 2.2 kilometers later. The man endured an injury to one hand.
She told police she had a doctor’s appointment and didn’t want to be late. Police are treating the incident as attempted murder because of the potentially life threatening danger posed by diving a considerable distance with someone clinging to the outside of a moving vehicle.
