Mt. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan, 3776 meters (12,388 feet) tall. It is considered an active volcano, having last erupted in 1707. In 2013, it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has become even more popular as a destination. Twenty-five cultural sites are included in this Mt. Fuji designation, including Fujisan Hongu Sengen Shrine and Miho no Matsubara.
The climbing season is short, July 10 - September 10 for the three routes in Shizuoka prefecture and July 1 - September 10 for the Yoshida trail in Yamanashi prefecture. Climbing Mt. Fuji has been on my Bucket List for a long time.
This is my latest photo of Mt. Fuji from near my home. Summer and the rainy season cloudy days make it much more difficult to see than in the winter.
Are there any mountain peaks on your Bucket List? Have you climbed Mt. Fuji?
