I love Japanese Festivals.
Last weekend was the lantern festival. In addition to the food and game booths, at this festival people could buy a lantern, then write a message on it before letting it go in the river.
There was a long line to take the lanterns to the put in area in the water.
This little guy was showing where the end of the line was.
Another wonderful tradition here.

You share so many great Japanese traditions. I can't help but think with each one that an old country has maintained all these wonderful traditions and that the people have continued to make them important and meaningful. How cool.

When I was a child I remember going away camping with my parents and siblings to a VERY large camping club meeting, at a place called Sixpenny Hanley, for "The Feast of Lanterns". Don't remember anything about it other than the fact that everyone had lanterns outside their tents. Pretty, if somewhat dodgy with so many tents!
