Mt. Fuji Renshu

I never tire of looking at Mt. Fuji.

I am already thinking about climbing it in the summer (the climbing season is July 10th - September 10th). I tried last summer, but had to turn back. Maybe this is the year to get to the top.  I walk quite a bit, but I know that walking on the flat isn't the same as walking up hill (up mountain?), so my weekend training includes walking to the station and going up and down the train station steps.

I took these pictures below when I was walking by and think this route will be in my future for training too.

That looks like a lot of steps. Good luck with your training, and I hope you can get to the top of Mt Fuji this time.

That is a lot of steps, but good for the heart I am told! The other hiking track looks like there is up as well if you go to the summit!

You need to be fit to climb Mt Fuji. I trained by walking in the pool. One problem is the lack of oxygen up the mountain.

What a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. Your preparations for the hike sound good. Up and downhill is much different than flatland walking but you will enjoy it and the preparatory walks.

Pamela: I am excited for you, Mike climbed Mt. Fuji back in the early 70s, he said he did not drink anything with caffeine and stayed away from salt so his body could handle the height, when he climbed they were Navy boys and did not bring warm coats, so when they spent the night on the last platform they almost froze, he still has his walking stick with all the burned levels in it.
I do hope you make it to the top, I wish you well, you are my hero for doing so.
You have lots of time to get in condition.

Blessings
Catherine
