Garden-so
I stayed at a traditional Japanese place that I loved! It wasn't fancy and it was very inexpensive. It's a cash only business, no credit cards. The cost included dinner and breakfast everyday. The place is owned, run, and all the cooking done by a charming 80 year old, who told me to call her Eiko-ba. In addition to all the cooking and running the place, she also makes omiyage out of hachijo lemons and other fruits and vegetables.

I forgot my camera the first evening, but here are the other meals I ate. Lots of fresh fish and local vegetables. One day I saw a fisherman deliver a fish that took both arms to bring in. That became dinner sashimi.

Beautifully presented/arranged food, what a treat.
Yes, she's an amazing woman. I'd want to stay there again too.
Rice, fish, eggs seem to be dominant food. That's the best food, with addition of some veggies or pasta. No need to go further, delicious and filling.
The place, the woman, the food are all very tempting!
What a WARM place! I am sure you want to visit again.
You are lucky. This is the taste of mom's cooking full of hospitality and love.
I'm feeling hungry looking at all that beautiful Japanese food.
What a fantastic place! I absolutely love the leaf-print glass. Do you know if it was actually the glass made that way or if it was a stick-on type? Either way, love, love, love! The food looks awesome too. I've always enjoyed Japanese cuisine but wow, does it make a lot of dishes to wash!
What an exceptional lady she must be to have guests and treat them so well. It looks amazing.
Oh wow, that food looks delicious! What a great place to stay.
