Illiterate and Dangerous

I've been opening the window in my classroom for quite awhile.  The other day one of my students pointed out a sticker on the handle with four kanji, that I couldn't read.  He told me it says open only in an emergency!  Maybe coronavirus is an emergency that justifies opening the window to get some fresh air. Or maybe I'm dangerous because I can't read.

Oops! Well, as long as the alarm didn't go off, I think you are safe for awhile.

Often when leaving my old office buildng we would go out the emergency door because it was an immediate exit to the parking lot rather than walking through part of the building. I guess we considered our daily exit an emergency!

Maybe they worry someone might fall out?

As long as an alarm is not set off and the window is properly closed and locked at the end of the day I am sure it is ok. Acs are important and necessary in this hot and humid weather but we also need the draught and circulation of air.
Stay safe.

And it took them this long to point it out to you? Fresh air should definitly count as an emergency!
