Okinawa - Oura Mangrove Forest Nature Facility

The walk through this mangrove forest is about 1.4 km out and back. The boardwalk is wide and there are many signboards in Japanese with information about the life forms. The walkways are well built and sturdy.

This is a mystery - a Christmas photo left on the railing mid-way through.

One lone heron

Japanese White Eye -  Is this cute or what?

This is a calm quiet place to visit.

I hope that mangrove forests will continue to be preserved.

Hi Pamela: It looks like a very interesting place; I like that they put in information about what kind of animal's birds and bugs are in that area.
The little white eye bird is adorable.

The white-eye bird is cute. We have a very similar bird called the sliver-eye, which I discovered is in the same genus as the Japanese bird.

The mangroves are beautiful. Did you encounter a lot of these small critters or did you just see the pictures?
