The stitch group has started a new project - a satin stitch ornament. We are each using 28 count linen and two strands of cotton floss. This is what mine looks like so far.
The stitch group has
moved from bargello bell ornaments to hexagons. I’m glad they are finding them
as addicting as I am! Small bags, table mats, coasters, Christmas ornaments – they have
all kinds of ideas.I’m working away at
the hand quilting on my big quilt.
This
week we started a new project – a little bargello bell. The chart is available free here. Two years ago I stitched this design and made a little ornament.
In less
than two hours, I stitched up a simplified version of the free chart as an
example, so the stitchers can choose to stitch as charted or the simpler
version (in their own choice of colors).
It
could finish into an ornament or a pin cushion or a card insert.
The
stitch group held a going away luncheon for one of our members, who is moving
away, at the new home of another of our members. This was the occasion for the
giving of the travel bags I made.We talked
and ate a long leisurely lunch. No stitching at this get-together!
I
finished my little blackwork heart into a lavender sachet with a loop hanger so
it can be hung in a closet. The blackwork was stitched on 28 count linen with
one strand of Weeks Dye Works floss #1333 and one strand of Accentuate for the
cross stitches. The cording is made with the same floss and the backing is a
burgundy velour.It measures two inches
across.
Here is
my finished blackwork heart.I might
make it into a little sachet. Two of the
stitch group members thought they might make theirs into coasters. We just haven’t decided yet.
We’re
starting a new project!They’ve been
interested in Blackwork so I found this free beginner chart on the NAN website.
It’s small and should be a quick stitch. If they like it, maybe we will try something bigger.
Here is another of the finished stumpwork pieces. Isn't it pretty?
Everyone
finished their beaded bags, but I hadn’t been able to take a group photo because
either someone or someone’s bag was missing each week. Finally – here they are!(The red and black and white one is mine.)
One
person finished her stumpwork piece this week. Isn’t it great? The rest of us
are still “in progress”.
She has
a Hawaiian Quilt panel she is working on while the rest of us catch up.
The
stitch group members are finishing their little beaded bags and some are ready to
start a new project. Here are two finished bags and two in progress.
Next they want to try stumpwork. Each person will design her
own small piece.I’m going to try a
little circle for the top of a box that had chocolate in it.It’ll be a dragonfly and a couple of
blackberries.Hope to have some progress
to show soon.
This
week the stitch group continued working on our little bags.I worked on stitching the red lining to the
outside parts.Next I’ll join these two
pieces.
