Panda Paws and Yaktrax

Ted gave me new warm gloves and I love them!

Yesterday, Beth in IL commented that she’s afraid of falling when there’s snow on the ground.  Me too! Here in Hokkaido, it’s hard not to go out for the six months or so when there’s snow on the ground, though.

Ted and I have these things (called Yaktrax) to put on our shoes.  They are pretty small when they aren’t on shoes and are fairly easy to put on and pop off. They grip into the snow and are great for keeping you upright instead of horizontal when it's snowy and icy out.

They are also recommended by my friend Karen, fitness expert and writer of the blog for walkers, WalkTalk.

Kimono Exhibit
On a totally different subject, check out Plays With Needles to read about a wonderful Kimono Exhibit that was held at the Metropolitan Museum. Susan has some beautiful photos and great descriptions and information, plus links so you can see more!

I love my Yaktrax for snow and I have a different brand with spikes that work better on ice. There are several brands on Amazon.

How I wish I had those when I was living in Hokkaido. Slipping and sliding is a part of winter life isn't it? Even shovelling snow is dangerous.

The Yaktrax are an amazing idea. It's so hard to find women's boots that look nice but have a nice grip at the bottom. Usually the soles are smooth, which is not good for walking over icy sidewalks.

Yaktrax and its spiky cousin are life savers! Never go out without them!

Your panda gloves are adorable! Yaktrax are awesome-I couldn't walk my dog in the winter without them!
