The Trip with the Volunteer Guides - Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center and Lunch (Part 1)

I was invited to tour the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center, the Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine, and the Takasago Sake Brewery, as well as eat lunch at a Yakisoba Restaurant with a group of nine volunteer multilingual guides.  They took turns giving me a whispered translation of the Japanese language information at each place.  How lucky am I?  A big thank you to the all of the guides!

Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center

This beautiful new facility was our first stop. The Center is open 9 - 5 daily and admission is 300 yen.  It is located in walking distance from the Fujinomiya train station.

On the first floor, there is a cafe and a library, in addition to information on the wall to read in several languages.

As you go up the circular walkway, there are many things on the walls to see.

It was a gloomy day when we were there, but the Center staff person showed a photo of what the view of Mt. Fuji would be on a clear day.

Yakisoba Lunch

We ate at a nearby restaurant where we cooked our own yakisoba at the table.  I had ika (squid) but there were also meat varieties available.  The cost was only 500 yen (540 yen with tax).

After lunch we visited Fujinomiya Shrine and Takasago Sake Brewery.  I'll have photos and a post about them in a few days!
