Pamela: What a story, and to hear it sung must be something to hear.
Thank-you for sharing with us.
So happy to hear you had a holiday and a place to spend it.

You are so lucky to have the chance to attend all these very Japanese events. The sound of the bias is always sad to me, sad but beautiful.
That would have been an interesting cultural experience. I found a short clip on YouTube of what the instrument sounds like, and it does have a very sad feel.
Hi Pamela wow this sounds so interesting and how wonderful that you got to experience it xx
You are having so many new and wonderful experiences in Japan Pamela.
What a wonderful opportunity. xx
Once again you sent me off to Google which led to Utube to hear a Biwa performance. I was not surprised to find the instrument in one I have heard many times in one movie or another. A sad but lovely sound.
It must have been a very interesting day.
xx, Carol
Crossing the Lake sounds fascinating! You are having some wonderful experiences there in Japan.
The Biwa was new to me, it’s amazing to be able to find it on you tube and hear one live!

What a remarkable post, Pamela. This is fascinating. I have heard the biwa and it is a really interesting instrument but I was intrigued with the story told.
It does sound like a beautiful performance!
