Children's Day and Baiinzen-ji Temple
In Japan, today is the national holiday, Children's Day.
Baiinzen-ji Temple was another nearby place I visited during my stay-cation Golden Week. It was quiet, with no other people around. According to Shizuoka-guide.com, this is the "historic temple of Myoshinji group, Rinzai sect. The grave, statue, and museum of Jirocho, the No. 1 gangsters' boss of Tokaido Area in the 19th Century, as well as the graves of his wife Ocho, and his followers Omasa and Komasa."

Children's Day, yes that's a good idea for sure.

I looked for some information of the temple on the net and found the man statued was Shimizu no Jirocho. He is a famous man lived between the end of Edo era and the early Meiji. He supported English school.
Another beautiful temple. Thanks for all the garden photos, I always love to see the gardens around the temples.
I have one of those fish windsocks somewhere. I wonder where I've put it.
I love those children day flags, and a temple with a buried gangster boss is certainly something different!
