Mother-Daughter and Brother-Brother Travel Bags

I made a girly-girl travel bag as a gift for my friend who is moving away and made a matching little bag for her little girl.

 

The inside of the big bag has two sections, one with a button closure.

 

I filled the bags with some travel stuff.

 

I made a little boy bag for the little boy who will be present when I give the gifts to the little girl and her mother, and a second little boy bag for the five year old brother of the little boy.  All of the bags have ribbon drawstring closures.

Work In Progress Wednesday - Alaska

Since last week, I’ve finished Alaska.  Nineteen states completed!

Take a Stitch Tuesday 131 Beaded Lock Stitch

I tried this one with a thin mystery thread (green), soy luster (yellow) and three strands of DMC floss (variegated green).

Monday Morning Star Count - Nine Lines

I’m stitching the lines together, but still have quite a bit left to do. I had 19 lines last week, so this is a bit of progress.

Sapporo Flower Festival Orchid Show

It was a rainy day, so we didn’t take many photos outside, but we did go inside the Orchid Show tent.  There weren’t many people, probably because of the weather.  Here are a few of the many beautiful flowers we saw.

Two Blue Huck Weaving Towels - Finished!

These two towels have been my most recent “carry along” project.  They’ve been good to carry along and work on while out because it’s a repeat pattern with only two colors of thread. 

Now that they are finished, I need to pick out another small project to carry with me.

Denmark Cross Stitch Exhibit

 

My friend Sano San invited me to accompany her to this exhibit. I am so glad she did because I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise.

 

When we entered the first of two floors of beautiful stitched pieces, we were given this nice little bookmark kit.

 

I took over a hundred photos, but am not posting all of them.  It was difficult, but I’ve chosen some of my favorites.  I recognized some of the designs from Danish Cross Stitch books I've had.

 

The group of Japanese women who put on the show invited me to join them, but unfortunately they meet at a time when I have an English class. If my class time changes, I hope to be able to join their group.

Midnight Mystery Quilt Along

I am participating in this mystery quilt project, designed and coordinated by Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs.  The quilt along will run from June 2015-March 2016. The new set of instructions will come out on the first Thursday of each month. Last month was fabric selection. Today will be the next set of instructions.  It’s not too late to join in!

Here are my fabric selections. The requirements are four fabric sets (four fabrics or four sets of fabric) and I have opted to go with a scrappy type quilt to use fabrics I already have. 

 

Hopefully I can keep up with the monthly instructions and can show my progress as time goes on.

Work In Progress Wednesday - A Little Around the Edges

Since last time, I’ve worked on the borders and started Alaska.  I haven’t completed any additional states, so I am still at 18 completed.
