Yesterday
we attended the International Exchange Society’s Annual Mushroom Party. It was held in the forest near where we live,
so we were able to walk to the party. A
man known as the mushroom professor went to the forest early in the morning and
picked a large variety of mushrooms. He
said all but two of them were edible.
They
made mushroom miso soup, fried mushrooms, Japanese barbeque, plus the party was a pot
luck, so there was a lot of food.
About
half of the people there were Japanese who wanted to practice their English and
about half English speaking foreigners. It was very interesting to talk with everyone who was there.
Rain
was predicted for the day, but it ended up being a beautiful day in the woods.
I think a good time was had by all.

Oh, how neat! That is one festival I would love to attend...what a great way to learn about all the different types of mushroom and spend a lovely afternoon with many different people!
