Sumpu Castle Park
I took the train to Shizuoka City to visit Sumpu Castle Ruins and the surrounding park. It was a beautiful day, perfect for being a tourist. Tokugawa Ieyasu began constructing Sumpu Castle in 1585 and completed it in 1589. He became the first Shogun, unifying all of the provinces of Japan to form one country and a state of peace that lasted almost 300 years.
Upon entering the park at the North Gate, I first visited the Momijiyama Garden. I had an English map and an English audio system, so I could understand where I was!
After touring the beautiful gardens, I went to the tea house and had cold tea and a sweet.
I took my time touring the park. Some of the signs were in English, which was nice.
It was a good way to spend the day.
