Yosakoi Dance Festival

Ted’s camping trip ended by 9 am. He came home for a quick shower and we were on our way to the train station by 9:20 am or so.  We made it to Odori Park, where the festival was held, around 11:30 am.

We saw dancers in their elaborate costumes, make-up and hair everywhere.  They were lining up for the parades and to perform on stage.

One woman put her dog in a surprised dancer’s hands for a photo and the little dog didn’t look too happy about it.

There were dance groups made up of children, of elderly women, and of mixed ages. Some groups were only about 12 or 15 and some were over 100.

As with any festival here, there were lots of food and drink vendors to choose from.

And the lines for the toilets were long.

We enjoyed our day in Sapporo.
