With just six months until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it is in the news quite a bit. Just last week, the Japan Oympic and Paralympic team uniforms were unveiled. They will be custom made for each athlete.

Nice uniforms!
Red as the dominant color - good idea! The caps, the ties, and scarves - lovely accessories!
Is that a skirt or shorts?
The Australian opening ceremony costumes are usually dreadful, so I expect that will be the same this time!
The uniforms look quite retro don't they, fashion goes around in cycles. I like the uniforms, they look very smart.
Many counties make uniforms with the colours of their flag - in the case of Sweden that would be blue and yellow, not the best of combinations. Hinomaru, the Japanese flag is red and white and the colours look good for 'official' clothings.
The women's jackets are shorter which is comfortable for athletes in wheelchairs, the men's jackets are in the way. However, for athletes standing up, a longer jacket looks nicer.
I agree, the uniforms look a bit like those of high school students or flight attendants, there is nothing sporty about them.
I was also wondering, are they red skirts or culottes?
I like the added scarf. Our Australian uniform, I agree with Vireya, are usually boring. I guess the opening ceremony is a formal occasion so they are made to look that way.
I think both. They do look a bit like school uniforms, I agree. But it's not an easy task to design something that looks cohesive for both men and women. I think they work.
I haven't seen the USA uniforms yet. I think Japan's uniforms don't have a BIT of sport feel. They kind of remind me of uniforms that theater ushers wear.

I'll be honest, I didn't even know there was something like an olympic uniform. I thought they just wore track suits or something when not competing...
They look very smart and comfortable to wear.
