Kinkaku-ji

Kinkaku-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple and one of the locations in Kyoto that make up the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto that are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The temple dates back to 1397, but the current three story structure was rebuilt in 1955 after burning down in 1950. This is a very popular site and was very crowded.

Is this the temple that is gilded? I saw a video about it and it's on my list to visit.

It does look very tranquil and a good place for contemplation.

Kinkaku-ji looks amazing! We didn't make it there due to lack of time.
