Higashi Honganji

Higashi Honganji is a large Buddhist temple complex just a short walk from Kyoto Station. It was originally built in 1604, but has burned four times, the most recent time in 1864.

The Goei-do or Founder's Hall is the largest wooden building in Kyoto and one of the largest in the world.  Inside, photography is prohibited.

At the end of 2018 I was in Kyoto at the end of a papermaking tour and spent 4 days just walking around, so much to see, it is a wonderful place to spend some time.

You had the most magnificent holiday. That fountain near the end is quite impressive but then, it all is.

That looks beautiful. Japanese architecture is fascinating. The proportions and lines are so different from traditions in Europe and America. Thanks for the great photos.
