Japanese Museum Guide

One of my former students gave me this English language book - The Art Lover's Guide to Japanese Museums by Sophie Richard. I haven't been able to travel anywhere since he gave it to me in November, but I do look at it and think about places I want to go and places I've been.

The museums in the book are arranged by location. (It doesn't include every museum in Japan, of course.) Each museum listing contains the address and general information such as the hours, access, and website. There are gorgeous photos and interesting historical information. Also included are other places to visit in the same area as the main museum listed. In the back of the book, there is an alphabetical index and a thematic index, along with several pages to take notes and a glossary. The perfect book to look at when I am staying home and dreaming about future trips. I look at this book again and again.

If you are interested in the book, it is published by Modern Art Press and the ISBN is 978-4-907983-58-8.

What a thoughtful gift. Hopefully within a year you will be able to take advantage of it and visit some of these spots.

How interesting! I'm not surprised there are twice as many pages on Tokyo than any other region.
