Awashima Shrine and 13 Years of Blogging

I was walking on a little street behind the train station, and when I came around a bend in the road, I saw this cute little shrine. When I looked at Google maps, I found out the name is Awashima Shrine.

I moved to Japan on December 5, 2011, and started this blog on December 11, 2011.  Every single day since then, I have posted about my stitching, my travels, and about everything I find interesting in Japan. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to come to Japan, and to be able to stay here.

I wish I’d discovered your blog sooner as I enjoy reading about the places you visit, your friends and the projects you do.

Congratulations on your milestone. Like you, I am very grateful for having been able to settle down in Japan.

What is very attractive about smaller Shinto shrines like Awashima Shrine is that you can see how they are part of the local community. There are no gates, the plot is always open, there is shade from large trees, maybe some flowering bushes, benches to sit on and Radio Taiso gymnastics every morning at 6.30.

Congratulations on 13 years! You've done an awful lot of posts in that time, and that's quite an accomplishment! Lovely shrine, as well!

Congratulations on your 13th anniversary.🙌 Your hometown, Iwamizawa City, is already covered in snow, and it looks like it's going to be difficult to shovel it.😵
