No More Romaji

Our Japanese class recently started Minna no Nihongo Book 2.

In Book 1, I wrote notes and answers to the exercises in romanji instead of Japanese because it's quicker for me to write and easier for me to read.

I’ve decided that starting with the new book, I will only write in Japanese. Maybe I’ll get better and faster.

Hi Pamela!
That's quite a step up, isn't it?
Don't worry, you will indeed get better and faster by reading and writing solely in Japanese characters. :-)

Good idea! It will take some time to get used to reading in Japanese script only.
A trick I used was to cheat if I stumbled upon some hard to learn part, wrote it in romaji, repeated it until I felt like a parrot, then started reading the kanji+kana script again, and suddenly it was easy to read fluently.
Minna no nihongo 2 is kindly written with spaces between the words, the next book might not have that help and you will find it difficult to know where one word ends and the next starts. However, Elizabeth Braun is right, you will get better and faster by sticking to Japanese characters as much as possible.
