Friday Finish - The One Word Dictionary

The word is ,  which means "Moon" in English.  The cover moon of the dictionary is stitched with glow in the dark thread on red felt. (Back cover is the same red felt.)

The inside has two pages. The left side page is the kanji character for moon. The right side page is the full moon. If you look closely, you can see the rabbit in the moon. (In the US, we look up and see a man in the moon.  In Japan, we look up and see a rabbit in the moon.)

Real moon photo taken near my apartment some time ago.  Do you see a man or a rabbit? (I see a rabbit).

The stitching of the kangi character“Moon” is perfect.

「A rabbit is making rice cakes on the moon」
↑When I was a child, I was taught like this.
So it still looks like that.

Hello Pamela: I do see a rabbit, I really have never seen the man face on the moon from earth.
Love this booklet, you have many talents.

I also see a rabbit. Do you know why some people can't see him? Because he has jumped into one of the craters and hidden there!
Your Moon book is beautiful. Does the moon on the cover glow green in the dark?

I've never understood the "man in the moon" thing. I can't see a man or anything else, just random blotchiness. But then the moon is the other way up on this side of the world - maybe it is more obvious from the northern hemisphere?

Beautiful stitching, love the moon. I don't see a man or a rabbit sadly!

That's a cute finish! I see a rabbit as well. But now I wonder if people in the US just interpret what they see differently, or actually view the moon from a different angle, so it looks differently to them. Off to find out!
