The Empress Celebrates Her 60th Birthday This Week

 

Empress Masako thanked those who supported her through six decades of her life so far, starting with her parents who raised her with love, according to a statement released by the Imperial Household Agency. She is a Harvard and Oxford educated former diplomat, and married then Crown Prince Naruhito, now emperor, in 1993. The couple have one daughter, Princess Aiko, who is a university student. I wish the Empress a happy birthday and many more ahead.
