Kodomo No Hi
Today
is a national holiday in Japan – Kodomo no hi or Children’s Day. One symbol of
the day is the Koinobori, the flying carp seen everywhere. The black carp at
the top represents the father, the red carp next is the mother, and the ones
below are the children in the family.

It is unusual to see large scale koinobori like these in the metropolis. They are very impressive.
