A little after 11 pm Saturday, there was an earthquake in Japan. I live in the dark blue area, roughly where the arrow is pointing. I only felt a little shaking for about a minute. I read in the news that over 50 people in Japan were injured and there were widespread power outages in some areas, but no tsunami. News photos showed damaged buildings. I read that many people had flashbacks to the big earthquake and tsunami ten years ago. Once again, I consider myself lucky.

Good to hear you are ok. Earthquakes are scary things and Japan gets a lot of them.
Glad you are OK. I was watching NHK here in Baltimore and the regular news had just ended when there was the announcement (9:10 AM). Subsequent reports were that it was an aftershock from 10 yrs ago. Is that possible?
Catarina, It seems strange that this is an aftershock after ten years, but we are hearing the same thing. I guess ten years is like a minute in time for things inside the earth.

Thank goodness you are safe and didn’t get any damage. I was thinking of you all. I have never experienced one and don’t want to.
It shook enough in Tokyo (pale yellow on the map) to have me grab my emergency helmet and dive under the table for shelter. No real damage noticed until this morning when we saw a 'nice' crack in the floor. We are on tenterhooks fearing the next after shock.
