Kyoto - Higashi Honganji Temple

I visited this temple a few years ago and took more photos of different things then. It's just a short walk from the Kyoto Station and entry is free. It was originally build in 1604, but the temple buildings have been destoyed by fire four time, most recently in 1864.  Most of the current buildings were rebuilt in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Another beautiful temple. I'm intrigued by the architecture -- can you imagine building this at the time it was created?

So beautiful! I like the heron in the first photo, too.
