I agree, the soccer ball bun is cute.
What impresses me is that Japan is keen on adjusting products to suit or honour the season, event, area or special situation.
For example, during this World Cup, many schools serve a lunch of dishes unique to the country Japan is playing against. Was it maybe sausages and sauerkrout when Japan met Germany last week?
Other examples of this 'make the money go round' commercial policy are the series of Kit-Kat with local or seasonal flavours, wasabi, green tea, tangerines etc Wrappings and decorations on beer cans, cherry blossoms in spring and snowflakes in winter.
I think it is a good idea for chain stores to offer a temporary menu - many people here are willing to try new things.
I haven't seen these here, but I don't go to McDonalds very often so that doesn't have to mean they don't sell it!
