Tan Tan, the Oldest Giant Panda in Japan, Died at Age 28

Sad news - Tan Tan, the oldest Panda in Japan died of cardiac arrest on Sunday this week. She came to Oji Zoo in Kobe in 2000 from China. She was scheduled to return to China, at the expiration of her lease agreement in July 2020, but that was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, then again later because of treatment for cardiac disease and the increased risks of her transportation. She was 28 years old.

I hope she had 28 good years in Japan. I am sure she spread a lot of joy to the visitors.

It is a shame that he was not able to return to his birthplace of China, but I believe that he was raised with great care and lived happily in Japan. I hope ”Tan Tan“ have fun with other Pandas in Panda Heaven.🐼

I don't know how old pandas get in the wild, but it sounds like she had a good long life.
