It isn't just texting, but walking, driving, biking, with eyes on your device. I have been hit twice by cyclists not watching where they were going. One was a mother on a bike with a kid in front and one on the back, neither wearing helmets. Luckily I was the only one hurt and the kids were OK. There is also the time you are walking down the street and the person in front of you stops suddenly to text...almost causing an accident. At least they might step aside.
To me it is a wonder that they can see anything on the screen anyway.
I don't only stop walking and move away away from the stream of people, but also try to find a a shady place or go indoors - I find it so hard to read the smartphone screen in glaring sunshine. Is it age?
When I was a kid I read books as I was walking to and from school. I don't think I was much of a danger to anyone as there weren't many people on the footpaths, and everyone who was there was walking in the same direction as me.
That's a great poster. I'm amazed at how many distracted walkers there are out there!
I'm guilty of using my phone while walking (mostly reading, not texting), but not in busy areas and only if I know my way well!
