Border Practice and a Coffee and Cookie Coaster

I continue cutting strips for the house quilt border.

I've never tried making this border, so I decided to try making a practice strip to see how it works.

I turned the practice piece into a coaster that will hold a cup and a cookie. The size is about 7 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Here it is, front and back.

I need to cut some more strips for the quilt, but I think this will work out.

Good morning Pamela!

Also,how much do you cut?
Be careful not to get injured.
By the way. How did you collect this
lot of cloth?

Cute use of your practice piece!

I think that will make a good border.

That will make a great border and you have a bonus mug rug too.

A coffee and cookie coaster would be a good project for your stitch group. Hand piecing I guess, though.

I like the fabric combo and the Mug mat is really attractive.

I have always liked that pattern for a border. Great practice piece.

That's a pretty cool border, I'm looking forward to seeing the big version of it!
