Kozen-ji Temple in Takasaki City
It was a quiet day at the temple, but it looked like many people could be here at any time. Everything seemed to be well taken care of and clean. There is a large open area that could be for parking. I like to see temples and shrines, but they are a mystery for me.

I really like this one, Pamela. It's quite beautiful and yes, it looks very well maintained.
I believe it is the people who look after the temples and shrines who set the atmosphere. If they sweep the yard, see that the flowerbeds are weeded and the bushes cropped, arrange for new concrete to fill in any hole in the ground, set up parking lots and handrails, repaint signboards and have neat piles of pamphlets, then these religious places will look welcoming to many people. However, I prefer it when there is a certain untidiness and mystic feeling of an old temple where the paint is flaking and moss growing everywhere.
I wonder which dwelling the deity prefers.
This temple feels more like a temple rooted in the local community that a tourist spot. I believe this temple owns a large cemetery on land behind or near the temple.
The temples are super pretty and impressive, but I think if you are not part of the religion in question, it can be difficult to figure out what's going on! I love how well kept they all are, though.
