Stitch Group Sunday

Show and Tell - one stitcher completely finished her candlewicking piece into a little zipper pouch, and everyone had the stitching finished on the candlewicking piece.

One person had to leave early before I took any pictures of her, but she was almost finished with the day's project - one day project: strawberry pin cushion.

Cute little pincushions!

Finishing our get together with tea time.

When we meet again, we will start a new project.

Friday Finish Candlewicking Zipper Pouch

No machine was used in the construction of this little zipper pouch, it was done all by hand stitching. The fabric was originally cut at 7"x7" and the finished size is about six and a half inches square.

Originally I was going to use blue lining fabric with the blue zipper, but I forgot and cut the ecru little rabbit fabric.  I still went with the blue zipper because blue is my favorite color.

Work In Progress Wednesday

New Start - The Quiltmaker from Lavender & Lace

Spring Bride is getting very close to being finished. I spent a lot of time outlining this week, but there is still more outlining to be done.

New Start - Huckweaving Practice

I've done Huckweaving before, but I kind of forgot how to do it. You can see one kitchen towel I made in 2015 here and another one here. I did this little practice piece on aida 14 fabric (front and back).  I have no idea how to figure out how much thread I need for each pass, without wasting too much.  If anyone knows, please help me.

Stitch Group Sunday

We met on Sunday and continued working on our candlewicking projects. Candlewicking is a type of embroidery using colonial knots to make the design. Each stitcher decided on her design and after some practice was ready to start stitching that design. I usually stitch in hand (without a hoop or frame), but it is important to keep the fabric stretched when doing this technique, so I am using a hoop.

We talk about many things, sometimes serious, sometimes silly. One of the topics Sunday was the song "Killing Me Softly", which was used in a Nescafe commericial in 1972. What did Nescafe do to that song?

We found a real version of the song with Roberta Flack singing. Much better!

I really enjoy this group and feel very fortunate to be a part of it!
