Marriage Age Statistics in Japan
I find statistics interesting and can't resist reading information about all different topics. According to the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, there were 598,965 marriages in Japan in 2019, which was an increase of more that 12,000 compared to 2018. Some people claim the increase was a result of the beginning of the Reiwa era, and couples saw it as lucky.
The peak age for women to marry for the first time is 25.
The average age in Japan for first marriages has been going up.
1995 Husband 28.5 years Wife 26.3 years
2005 H 29.8 W 28.0
2015 H 31.1 W 29.4
2016 H 31.1 W 29.4
2017 H 31.1 W 29.4
2018 H 31.1 W 29.4
2019 H 31.2 W 29.6
How does that compare with your country? (Wouldn't you know, Wikipedia has a page listing this information, although it is not up to date - here).

I just looked it up as I had no idea, currently it is 32.4 yrs for males and 30.5 for females, getting older here too. In NZ it is 30 and 29. Interesting.
If I read that list correctly, Swedish brides are the oldest in the world, 33.5 - really over the hill!
Did you know that Japanese brides over 25 used to be called Christmas cakes? After Dec 25 no one wants a cake decorated with fir trees or Santa Clauses.
These are very interesting. Thanks for sharing this.
In Germany, according to that Wikipedia list, the average is 33.4 for men and 30.8 for women. Felix and I were both a bit younger (he was 30 and I was 29 when we got married).
On that statistic of Japan, it warms my heart that there is a noticable percentage of women still getting married for the first time at 50+ years of age! You're never too old to find love.
