Kashima Jinga
Walking on different streets each time, I come across many shrines and temples. This shrine is about 45 minutes from where I live and kind of built into the hillside.
That's the big old tree on the left, and there always seem to be steps at every shrine and temple.
No ball or small dog here, but one does have the open mouth and one the closed mouth.
Looking to the street. It's amazing to me how secluded these places seem when you are in them, but they are in the middle of houses with convenience stores across the streets.

Another beautiful temple, I guess the trees around give the sense of peace and seclusion.
The temple does look like it is far from the everyday world, not across the road from convenience stores!

All three are lush and surrounded by mature trees even if the neighbourhood is residential and there are convenience stores nearby.
You found a new Jinja. The area is surrounded with many tall trees. Good place.
Another lovely shrine found. I have often wondered the significance of the steps, perhaps a way to climb the hills they are built on. Are they high up to be closer to their god?
It's really cool how Japanese shrines are git into the cityscape.
