Shira-hige Jinja Shrine

The next door neighbor of this shrine is a kindergarten or day care, I think. The shrine property is not very large, but the trees make it seem private. There were no children on the playground when I was there.  It might have a different feeling when screaming children are next door.

It gives the impression of being very quiet with the colour of the entrance, some are brightly painted.

It does look quiet in these photos. Where are all the people? I rearely see a photo of Japan without people somewhere.

Pamela: It is very interesting that there are so many Shrines, are they each a family Shrine or can anyone be a part of that Shrine.
I find it interesting also that there are what look like cards hanging on pegs.
Thank-you for sharing.

A serene scene but the school noise could be unwelcome. Are the hanging cards Prayer cards? and the coloured symbols the 'Year of' animals?

I wonder why this shrine is called White Beard Shrine. Next door is a nursery school, so it can have nothing to do with elderly people in a nursing home!
Did you find out what the thick stem of bamboo with the drilled holes is for?

Does Pamela know“Chibi Maruko-chan”? “Chibi Maruko-chan”is a manga(animation)that Japanese people are familiar with. Manga artist Momoco Sakura is also this work.
She is from Shmizu-Ku ward. She was called “Maruko” When she was a kid. In other words,“Chibi Maruko-chan” is Manga that depicts she as a child, sent is Shmizu-Ku. The shrine in the photo is a model of shrine that Maruko went to play and appears in manga. She actually attended the nursery school next to the shrine.

“Kappa Myojin”is enshrined in a building with a red roof. Kappa is a Japanese legendary Youkai. (Youkai=Monster)I don't know the details, but the Tomoe River runs nearby, and there are statues of Kappa and legends of Kappa. I seems to have something to do with Kappa Myojin.

I have not visited Shirahige Jinja. I have not seen it while driving my car. Thanks for sharing us.

It's hard to imagine the sound of children playing with this small shrine.

Looks like the shrine is designed to appeal to children too with those colourful drawings!
