Tokyo Twins named Xiao Xiao and Lei Lei
The names of the baby panda twins at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo were just announced - Xiao Xiao (boy) and Lei Lei (girl). More than 190,000 suggestions sent from all over Japan and after consulting with the Giant Panda National Park in China, which owns the twins, they received their names on Friday.
They were born June 23rd and are about 3 1/2 months old now. "Xiao means the light of dawn turning brighter and Lei portrays a bud becoming a beautiful flower and developing a bright future," according to Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike. They are expected to make their public debut when they are six months old.
