Nagamachi - Samurai Town in Kanazawa
Nagamachi is the well preserved samurai district located to the west of Kanazwa Castle. It was formerly the area where the samurai of Kanazawa lived with their families. I read that it looks much the same today as it did during the Edo era, with canals and cobbled streets that run between earthen tile-topped walls. I felt like I had gone back in time as I walked in this area.

It looks like a very interesting place to explore.
I think It's hard to maintain, but It's still wonderful that It's beautiful. When I take a walk, I feel like I can slip back in time to the Edo period.
Thank you for the photos.
Hi Pamela: Nice tour, I love the rocks coming out of the ground, they look so natural there.

It's so peaceful -- you must have arrived on a day when no one else was visiting!
Great places to visit. Love looking at your pics.
Kanazawa is such a great place to visit and experience a time slip. This kind of history lesson really sinks in - we can easily let the imagination flow and become a resident.
I am impressed that the information is written in correct English. Well done, Kanazawa Tourist Promotion.
What a great place you discovered! Did you see a lot of people exploring wearing traditional clothing?
