Throwback Thursday 5/25

I haven't done one of these in a while. Throwback Thursday is about looking back on what I wrote each year on this date.  The year links to the actual post.

2022   - A year ago was a Work In Progress Wednesday post and I was working on the Paisley Purse and the Ukrainian pin cushion.

2021  - Baby panda Fuhin was six months old.

2020  This was a Monday Morning Star Count post.  I made some gift bags and made the third week of the fourth year of the temperature quilt.

2019  My friend and I went out for a sushi lunch at a restaurant she knew about.

2018  - This was a link up post for the Smalls SAL. I finished a snowman ornament.

2017  - I posted a couple of pictures about the birds I saw in the stream near my apartment.

2016  - This was a Work In Progress Wednesday post and I was working on the pink block of a crazy quilt piece.

2015  - This post was about my finished sewing machine cover. This is one of my favorite pieces.

2014   - I was working on a blackwork alphabet project that year.

2013  -  This post was about a stitching magazine I received in the mail from Margaret, a bigger garden, and an aikido photo.

2012 - This was a post with four topics - An elderly man hit a boy on a bicycle near where I lived in Hokkaido, cherry soft serve ice cream, an earthquake that I slept through, and the start of the garden.

It's fun to look back from time to time.  I am thankful for the wonderful life I have in Japan.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - December

This month's ornament is another cathedral windows creation. I used red kimono fabric for the base and green cotton fabrics for the 1/2 windows. I like how it turned out.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - September

This month's ornament is another freebie and can be found here (scroll down). I used DMC #3 perle cotton for the twisted cord and stitched it down with the same color DMC floss.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - August

This month's ornament used the same pattern as January's ornament, but in different color thread and beads. It  is a 1995 design by Patricia Timpanaro, called Christmas Cross.  I used Watercolors thread and seed beads on 18 count canvas.  The twisted cording is made from #5 perle cotton.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - July

This month I stitched an ornament by Elizabeth Foster of Elizabeth's Design's called Christmas Eve. I used threads, beads, and fabric I had on hand, not the ones called for in the pattern. I finished it with twisted cord I made from DMC #5 perle that I stitched down with invisible thread.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - June

This month I finished a small cross stitch ornament.  The chart is available here. The ornament is stuffed, with buttons to hold the ribbon hanger.  It's not my usual finishing technique, but it is okay.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - April

This month's ornament was designed by Carole Rodgers and called Hardanger Poinsettia on White.  I did not use the called for fabric or threads.  I finished the ornament with cording I made from #5 perle, a store bought tassel, and moire fabric for the backing.

2018 Smalls Stitch A Long - March

The stitch group tried out bargello this month by stitching a small bell, using this free pattern.  I stitched two bells and finished them with the same backing fabric as the February ornament. I made the twisted cording from #5 perle cotton and stitched it to the ornament with invisible thread. I can't wait to see how my stitching friends decide to finish their little bells.

This SAL is hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus.

Smalls Stitch A Long - February

This year I am stitching ornaments for the Smalls Stitch A Long. This ornament is designed by Beth Hendslik of Fanci That Patterns, Inc.   I finished it into a flat padded ornament and am especially pleased with the cording I made using DMC varigated perle #5.

This SAL is hosted by Heather at Stitching Lotus.

Links to my finishes are: 2017 - Calendar Cats

and 2014 - Little Toolies.

Now for 2018, I think my theme will be ornaments.
