5,000th Post and Throwback Thursday

Time Flies! This is my 5,000th post on this blog. I think that is a good reason to do a Throwback Thursday post. (You can see the full post by clicking on the year).

2023  on Monday Morning Star Count, I was working on a hexagon project.

2022  I wrote about Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) membership decreasing.

2021 I discussed the ages of Olympic athletes.

2020 The post was a Friday Finish.

2019 was a “Finish it in 2019” post. I had both finishes and progress to report on.

2018 was about a trip I had taken to Ueda in Nagano.

2017 This post was week 14 of the first temperature quilt.

2016 I reported on the Shimizu Minato Festival.

2015 I explained about another celebration in Japan, Tanabata.

2014 I left on a big trip to the UK that day, and wrote about the trip and posted a picture of an ornament I finished.

2013 I was participating in Take a Stitch Tuesday and posted about that week’s stitch.

2012  My neighbor and I stitched together and she finished her cross stitch kitchen towels.

Thank you for looking back on this date with me!

Throwback Thursday

Sometimes I think back on things I've done or made in the past. Today I will write about the things I posted in years past on February 6th. (You can read the post by clicking on the year link).

2024  Last year I wrote about the 26 year old Ukranian born Japanese woman who was crowned Miss Japan. There was some controversy about whether she was really "Japanese". (A few days later she gave up her crown, but that was another post.)

2023 This was a Monday, and I wrote about a new hexagon project. These later became a chair cushion.

2022 This post was about some things I saw on my visit to Tottori Prefecture.

2021 This was a People's Choice link up post, with the topic "Birds I have stitched".

2020 I posted about the framed quilts I saw at the 2020 Tokyo International Quilt Festival. (This was the last Tokyo International Quilt Festival event, just before the pandemic hit).

2019  This was a "Finish It in 2019" post.  Seems a familiar theme.  I am always working to finish what I start.

2018 I attended the piano recital of my friend's daughter.

2017  Nadine sent me a wonderful gift from Belgium. (She last posted to her blog in 2020, but you can still check out previous posts).

2016  This post was a link up post to the Alphabet Club and was the letter G that month.  My word was Gakubuchi, meaning picture frame.  I posted some of my stitched pieces that are framed.

2015 This was a post about Setsubun.

2014 I posted about a Japanese Art Exhibit at North Carolina State University.

2013 On this date, I posted about a Work In Progress, that was almost finished.

2012 Finally, this was an after vacation post about the top five favorite places of the trip.

My time living in Japan has been so wonderful.  I'm glad I document what I do - big and small, on this blog. It's good to look back and remember from time to time.

Throwback Thursday 5/25

I haven't done one of these in a while. Throwback Thursday is about looking back on what I wrote each year on this date.  The year links to the actual post.

2022   - A year ago was a Work In Progress Wednesday post and I was working on the Paisley Purse and the Ukrainian pin cushion.

2021  - Baby panda Fuhin was six months old.

2020  This was a Monday Morning Star Count post.  I made some gift bags and made the third week of the fourth year of the temperature quilt.

2019  My friend and I went out for a sushi lunch at a restaurant she knew about.

2018  - This was a link up post for the Smalls SAL. I finished a snowman ornament.

2017  - I posted a couple of pictures about the birds I saw in the stream near my apartment.

2016  - This was a Work In Progress Wednesday post and I was working on the pink block of a crazy quilt piece.

2015  - This post was about my finished sewing machine cover. This is one of my favorite pieces.

2014   - I was working on a blackwork alphabet project that year.

2013  -  This post was about a stitching magazine I received in the mail from Margaret, a bigger garden, and an aikido photo.

2012 - This was a post with four topics - An elderly man hit a boy on a bicycle near where I lived in Hokkaido, cherry soft serve ice cream, an earthquake that I slept through, and the start of the garden.

It's fun to look back from time to time.  I am thankful for the wonderful life I have in Japan.
