Rice

Japanese rice is not like the long grain rice commonly eaten in the US.  Japanese rice has a sticky consistency and is traditionally eaten at every meal.  This is what rice looks like in the bag.

It has to be washed three times.  I don’t know why, but that’s the rice rule.

We don’t know what all the buttons on the rice cooker are for, so we just press the red button that probably means start.

After about 40 minutes, the machine beeps and the rice is ready to eat. Oiishii desu.

Weather Report

We had a beautiful day yesterday, partly sunny and a high of about 30 degrees F. Here are a few pictures from Ted’s cross country ski class.
